Meet Rosie

We're debuting a new feature on the Filly & Foal blog dedicated to Little Fashion Icons like my cousin Rosie. The youngest of six, and the only one to inherit her mom's famous rosey-red locks, this girl was born to stand out. It's no wonder that she has an eye for mixing bold prints and fun accessories! Keep it up Rosie, we like your style ♥

How old are you?
I am six and a half years old.

What's your style inspiration?
I just make up my own things to wear, and then I just wear them.
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
A long time because its a lot of work choosing what to wear.
What's your favourite outfit?
The zebra outfit, I also like a scarf with a flower shirt and skinny jeans.

What are some of your other favourite things?
I like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and One Direction songs. I love
McDonald's! I like to climb trees and read, I really like bottle nose
Dolphins.

Lego Maniacal Behaviour

Yesterday my friend Toby Simpson gave me a huge box of his childhood Lego. My grandparents had a huge collection of Lego that I got to play with when I was growing up, but it was mostly made up of the standard bricks. You really had to dig to find accessories like people, windows, and doors, let alone pieces that hadn't been gnawed on by family pets throughout the years. But I still spent hours meticulously constructing buildings filled with tiny furniture.
Besides all the fun accessories, the best part of Toby's collection is that his dad (a retired archivist) has also spent hours painstakingly organizing the pieces and booklets into plastic bags, my favourite of which is dedicated to a few miniscule gold coins, goblets, and a treasure map.
Maddie's still a little young for Lego, but I'm pretty excited for her to play with it when she's got a better handle on those fine motor skills. Mr. Simpson, I really appreciate the time and effort that went into this system. I'm going to do my best to keep it that way, but I have a feeling that's also a pretty ambitious endeavour.

Book Art: Pepe, das Eichhörnchen (1974)

These illustrations (by Yannik) are the sweetest. I wish I could get this printed on fabric to make a blanket for Mads.

At The Farm

When my niece and nephews were visiting from Missouri last November, I asked my friend Jimmy Limit to take some pictures of them with Maddie and Adelaide for Filly & Foal. Since the weather was so nice, we went to Riverdale Farm, supplied the kids with some leftover Halloween candy, and followed them around for a highly entertaining hour. Three months later, I've finally gotten around to posting the pictures, and sent a few of my favourites off to be made into promo postcards, just in time for.... spring? Oops. Luckily they're cute enough that no will care, right? (Right?)
